Earlier today, the staff for the upcoming anime adaptation of Kōji Shinasaka’s hit manga Tohai: Ura Rate Mahjong Tohai Roku released a new trailer. Additionally, a brand new key visual was released alongside the latest trailer. The trailer unveiled additional staff and cast members for the upcoming adaptation.

Kōji Shinasaka’s hit manga was serialized from 2006 to 2011 in Akita Shoten’s Young Champion magazine with 12 combined book volumes. The manga series inspired its live-action series, which was released in 2013. Other works in the franchise include the Tōhai: Hitobashira-hen manga, Tōhai: Minagoroshi-hen manga, and the ongoing Tōhai: Cold Girl manga.

Kōji Shinasaka’s highly anticipated anime adaptation will be a part of the Fall 2024 anime lineup. The anime will premiere on October 4 at 2:23 a.m. on MBS and TBS before airing on other networks. Reportedly, Masayoshi Ōishi will perform the opening theme song, “Gambling Hall,” while Taiyo to Odore Tsukiyo ni Utae will perform the ending theme song, “Plastic Showcase.”
The announcement also revealed three additional cast members. Among these include Toshihiko Seki, who is set to star as Hideharu Seki. Joining him will be Takehito Koyasu and Yōko Hikasa, who will star as Hatakeyama and Ai, respectively. Previously announced cast members include Kohsuke Tanabe as Kei, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Tōjima, Fairouz Ai as Amina, and Tsuyoshi Koyama as Noriyuki Takatsu.
As for staff members, Jun Hatori will direct the anime at East Fish Studio. Mariko Kunisawa will handle the scripts, Sayaka Anesaki will handle character design, and Yūsuke Shirato and Yūki Kishida will compose the music.
Anime News Network describes the anime as “Money, women, organs. Kei, a high school boy, frequents the underground mahjong parlor teeming with desires, earning him the moniker’ K of Ice’ in the underworld due to his cold-hearted strategy and stylish gameplay. Rumors also circulate that he keeps a girl at his home.”
